The Cure

The world is sick and dying my friend and we have the cure.  So why won't people accept it?  The cure, of course, is faith in God and in His son Jesus Christ.

I think we have three different issues or types of people that won't accept the truth.

First there are those that think God is a myth.  None of it is true and therefore I would be an idiot to believe.  These people have never felt or admitted to feeling God's power.  If they would open themselves up to God they would know it is not a myth.  If they studied, not just the bible, but scholars and old manuscripts, the prophesies that have been fulfilled, they would know it was not a myth.



Though he had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him ... And whereas he did all these miracles before them, they did not trust in him, ... he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn't believe in him, ...John 12:37

Then there are those who know there is a God and that they should probably be following Him, but not just yet or He might ruin their "fun".  They plan to maybe follow Him later.

Friends, none of us are guaranteed tomorrow.  At some point it will be too late.  Also, He doesn't ruin "fun", He gives joy, takes away burdens, leads and guides, strengthens and loves.  You will never be sorry to give up what you think is "fun" now for what God has for you.

Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.  James 4:14
Lastly (well there are probably more) there are those that think we are all going to the same place.  We can worship anything we want, any higher power will do.  All religions are the same and everyone goes to a great place.

Isaiah 44:6 

Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.

John 14:6 

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me




This last one is such a lie that we have been led to believe and our children are now being taught in our schools.  
Have you noticed that Christians are being persecuted?  Have you noticed that in schools, other religions can wear what the want and pray whenever they want and sing whatever they want, but not Christians.
Have you noticed that all religions have the right to display whatever they want, but not Christians.  Think about it.  Every time you hear about some religion being persecuted, think about Christianity and how we can't even say Merry Christmas without offending someone.  When we talk about our beliefs we make people uncomfortable but when others discuss their beliefs, we think "wow, that's great, tell me more." 
Why is that?  I'll tell you.  Because Christianity is real.  It makes people uncomfortable because it is real.  It is the truth and we don't like the truth when it tells us we can't be prideful and selfish and do whatever we want.
Our world is sick and dying and all the devil needs to do is make you ride the fence.  Not making a decision to follow Christ is a decision not to follow Christ.  
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.  1 Peter 5:8
There is a God and there is a fallen angel we call the devil and the devil does have other fallen angels that follow him.  He is evil and as we say "misery loves company".  He will do and say whatever it takes to make you NOT follow God.  You don't have to follow the devil.  You don't even have to believe he exists.  He would like that because if he doesn't exist then it is easier to believe that God doesn't exist.  Don't let him have you.  Talk to God and you will know what is true. Take the cure.

Oh and by the way - no one else ever died for you and rose from the dead.

Importunity- Huh? Luke 11

There is a story that Jesus tells in Luke Chapter 11, vs. 5-13. Many of us overlook all but the 9th verse. We want to skip right where it says "Ask, and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened." That sounds pretty good.  However, the verses before and after verse 9 are significant to the meaning behind the story.  In the Bible, context is very important.  We need to understand what is being said, who it is being said to, why and by whom. In this case, Jesus had been off praying by himself and the disciples came to him asking to be taught how to pray. Jesus gives them a beautiful, respectful way to pray which becomes what we call the Lord's Prayer. He teaches them to pray for God's kingdom, His will to be done, our daily needs, and forgiveness.  All of these come from the Holy Spirit. Then He goes on with this story. What is stopping us?

What stops us from doing what we know God has called us to do? I returned from my travels more than a week ago and I haven't written a word since I got home.  I haven't added to my book.  I haven't blogged.  I haven't even sent texts or messages to the Women's Fellowship group. Why?  The first few days, I told myself I was resting and didn't need to do anything for a while (except laundry). The next few days, I was busy - yes - that's it.  After that, I forgot about writing and just went about the duties of life.   During my trip I started this blog and started a new book because I knew that God wanted me to continue my work for Him, but for some reason, when I am home, it is difficult to follow through.  Do you have that problem too?
