Making Time for God
Time.....A precious thing these days. We get up in the morning and the rat race begins. Coffee, kids, shower, dress, off to work or in to work, Facebook, email, finish that great book you were reading, TV, vacation, pay bills, study, go to class, take care of the kids/pets/parents/spouse, go grocery shopping, do the dishes, wash clothes, clean house, get gas, do yard work.... Day after day..... BUT don't worry, you can go to church on Sunday and that should be enough to take care of the God part.
REALLY?
We have so much that "has" to be done each day. How can we fit in one more thing?
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
We are making excuses but why? Why is it so difficult to read a verse in the Bible each day? Why is it difficult to start each day in prayer or end each day in prayer or to talk to God constantly? Why do we stay so busy that we can't give God a few precious minutes? You know that answer. Who would want to stop you from receiving all the blessing that God wants to give you?
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8
Yes there is one God and yes, there is a devil. There is good and there is evil and evil wants to keep you so busy that you have no time to enjoy the good. This is a battle for your time. Who are you going to give it to?
Our hearts need to be full of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. They are free for the asking. Of the approximately 900 minutes a day that we are awake, can't we spend a few of those talking to God, asking for His fruits, reading His word? We can even listen to His word being read aloud to us on our phones or computers.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22, 23a
Because of the very things that are required of us in the first paragraph of this blog we need these fruits. Please don't let another day go by without giving some time to God. He deserves it, we need it. It's simple.
