Christ, our first love and our greatest passion
But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Revelations 2:4
We all have passion for different things at different times in our lives. We talk about the woman who washed Christ's feet with her tears and anointed His feet with costly perfume. Her passion was so great because she had been forgiven so much.
Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven--as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little." Luke 7:47
Sometimes we are passionate about people, jobs, world issues, etc. We are passionate about our families and often times, sports teams. And when we first come to have a personal relationship with Christ, we are passionate about Him and what He has done for us because we know that we have also been forgiven much and are so undeserving.
How can we not be passionate and enthusiastic about someone who died in our place for sins we committed? We would be heartless people indeed.
And yet... this world is a chaotic place. We have jobs and families, struggles and fears, problems and places to go, people to see. It is easy, so easy to get bogged down with life that our passion for Christ wanes. Sure, we might still go to Sunday service. We might even read the bible sometimes, and of course, we always 'like' those Christian cartoons on Facebook.
Have we lost our passion for Christ? Have we lost our first love? Have we let our daily life get in the way of abundant life?
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10
We need to be careful that we don't allow life to steal away the abundant life that Christ wants us to have. If we make Him our first and foremost passion, the rest of our passions will mean so much more.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
Everything we have and everything we are is because God sent His son Jesus Christ to die in our place to give us abundant and eternal life with Him. Let's be passionate about that and invite Him to be involved in all of our other passions in life. Don't let the world gradually creep in and steal away your first love.

You are an amazing writer. Your thoughts are right to the point. Thank you for your take and the direction you went with the text you used. It is amazing how the theif can do such damage in the dark right under our noses. The light is on - and the theif ihas been caught red handed. Great work Jenni :)
