Why is Christ the only way to salvation?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. John 3:16-18

It all began with Adam and Eve - God created a perfect place for them to have a perfect relationship with Him.  He wanted them to have free will, not love Him because they were little robots so He gave them free will.  He then told them that if they ate from the Tree of Life, they would die.  (not die instantly but bring death and decay of our bodies over time.

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Genesis 2:16-17

We don't know how long they were there in perfect harmony with God but when Satan became so proud that he thought he should be God and was cast out of heaven, he started tempting Adam and Eve and talked them into eating from the tree of life.

When this happened, their perfect relationship was broken.  God can not look upon sin because He is perfect.  But God had a plan to restore our relationship with Him.  Only one problem, He had to use us to complete His plan.  Obviously the plan took a long time through wars and people who did not do what God asked of them.  However, it was finally completed, when God sent His only son, Jesus, to be born of a virgin,  die crucified for our sins, and raise again on the third day.

For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 1 Cor. 15:22

All of this was prophesied in the old Testaments parchments that were found over years.  Jesus Christ's life met every prophesy.  If you will remember that over the years when people were under the law of Moses, people had to make blood sacrifices for sin.  Jesus became the final blood sacrifice once for all of us to cover our sins.

We no longer have to make sacrifices to cover our sins.  We no longer live under the law.  Accepting Jesus is the only way to salvation and a relationship with Christ and God who are one in the same.  It is a free gift for everyone.  We don't have to be perfect or sinless.  He loves us and accepts us just as we are.  All He asks is that we come to Him and believe.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Eph. 2: 8-9

We can't work our way into heaven.  He just wants us to have that relationship with Him that Adam and Eve had; the relationship that He created us to have.  We have a void that can only be filled by God.

God, the father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit that Christ left here on earth to help us are all one.  The trinity of God is difficult to understand, but if you think of humans as body, soul and spirit it might make it easier.

I and the Father are one. John 10:30

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matt. 28:19

We are all searching for something in this life that will make everything seem right.  God is the only answer.  Stop searching and accept Jesus as your Lord, admit that you are a sinner and ask for forgiveness.  Your life will change for the better.  I promise.

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

As I said, this is a very brief explanation but I hope it helps us all to understand God's plan to reestablish a relationship with Him.  Let me know if you make or have made the decision to accept Jesus as your savior.  I would love to pray for you.

For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. Rom. 6:14
