Called to blog once again

Dear friends,
After the publication of my first book, Fresh Fruit, Meditations on the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, and the completion of my second book, Lord, Teach us to Live, which is now in editing, I feel God calling me to start blogging again.  I have time on my hands and no real pull to do another book yet.

Blogging now will be different as I intend to write in first person from personal experience, sharing God's strength and what He is teaching me.

My first blog starts now!

I was talking with a woman the other day who told me her son was not a Christian and she wished he would come back to what he was raised in. I told my son who is a friend of this young man, that he should talk to him about Jesus.

Now, my son is young in witnessing. He told me that the young man was following his native roots and rituals and that it would be uncomfortable talking to him about Jesus and trying to get him away from his native heritage.

Seriously?  How many of us do this? This is what I wrote to my son.

Not all roads lead to the same place. Not all religions will get us to eternity with God.  I think you know this already.  There is no other God. Now some may call God by a different name and that is fine, but without believing that He sent His son Jesus to die for our sins, and that He rose again showing us that we will also rise with Him, and unless they ask for forgiveness of sins, they will not spend eternity with God.

We believe, not only because He has proven Himself to us, but because of the prophecy and predictions in the Dead Sea scrolls and other parchments that have been found in caves and carbon dated to thousands of years before Christ was born.  These predicted His life, where He would be born, how He would die, that His side would be pierced but His legs would not be broken, that they would gamble for His clothing and that He would raise from the dead and appear to hundreds before going up to heaven.  These all came true and are recorded.  There are many scientifically proven documents. Many who didn’t believe in God and then studied this proof came to accept that there is only one God and His son Jesus Christ.
Being interested in his native heritage does not necessarily contradict belief in Christ. We can let him follow this path and go to hell or we can explain how the two can work together.
12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. (1 Corinthians 13:12 ESV)
We don't know everything yet. There is so much more to God than we can even imagine. The only thing I know for certain is good news of Jesus Christ. The old Testament proclaimed His coming. He came, He died for our sins as the last and final blood sacrifice. If we believe in Him and follow His teachings, we will be saved and spend eternity with Christ.

If we get off track thinking there is another way to heaven, we are lost. If we allow others to follow their own path, they are lost.

We may have in depth knowledge of Christianity and want to totally burst their belief in whatever they are believing in. Instead let's find commonalities like Paul did when he spoke before the Areopagus in Acts 17.

23For as I walked around and examined your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: To an unknown God. Therefore what you worship as something unknown, I now proclaim to you.
He found something in their belief that he could use to show them the true God. Instead of not talking to people at all because they follow a different path or instead of beating them over the head with our bibles, let's try finding that one piece that fits both puzzles and start from there.
